The 2009 Yamaha V-Max is a 21st century redesign of one of Yamaha’s most distinctive models. The 2009 production V-Max is based on the styling of the 2006 concept V-Max, but both bikes also draw heavily on the original V-Max design from the 1980’s.

The 2009 Yamaha V-Max uses an all-new 1,679cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 65 degree V4 engine. This unit develops 210 horsepower @ 9,000 rpm and 166 Nm of torque @ 6500 rpm. The engine of the new V-Max benefits from Yamaha’s G.E.N.I.C.H. technology. This is an electronic control system which optimises the engines performance and response with features such as YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake) and YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle). However perhaps the most obvious feature of the V-Max’s Engine is the pronounced aluminium air intakes on either side of the dummy fuel tank, and the stubby exhausts which mirror the intake design.

The chassis of the 2009 Yamaha V-Max consists of an aluminium frame which arcs across the top of the V4 engine (which is a stressed member of the frame) and down to the pivot in a semi-loop designed to accentuate the engine’s shape. The Yamaha V-Max’s suspension is handled by fully adjustable 52 mm forks up front and a fully adjustable link-type Monocross rear suspension system at the rear. The 2009 Yamaha V-Max also features 320mm dual front wave-type brake discs with 6-piston radial-mounted calipers, a 298mm rear brake disc, and 18 inch black-colored wheels
